What Is E-Notary?
The Secure, State-Approved Way to Notarize Electronic Documents

Electronic notarization (e-notary) allows you to sign and notarize documents digitally while still meeting Colorado’s in-person presence requirements. During an e-notarization, both the signer and the notary meet face-to-face, but the document, signature, and seal are completed electronically.
Each notarized document receives a Document Authentication Number (DAN)—a unique code issued by the Colorado Secretary of State that ensures your notarized document is secure, tamper-evident, and legally verifiable.
Electronic notarization can be used for private transactions, such as contracts or agreements that are signed and shared electronically. Some Colorado counties also accept e-notarized documents for filing, provided there is a contractual arrangement with the county clerk’s office.
